About the Series

The Ashtanga Yoga method has influenced much of today’s modern styles of yoga. It is a dynamic practice that combines strength, stability, flexibility, and concentration to create a moving meditation.

In this series, Mark shares his over 20 years of Ashtanga experience and intense study to refine your current Ashtanga practice. His deeply intentional blend of physical and mental insights makes this program a hub of Ashtanga knowledge. Each class is filled with methodology, breath and movement techniques, and thorough posture breakdowns.

Four of the eight classes are drill-focused, teaching you the essential movement patterns and breath work to both develop and deepen your practice. You will experience improved strength, balance, alignment, and understanding of the power of breath. The four remaining classes are Ashtanga sequence break downs. Mark patiently guides you though each posture, allowing you to approach each posture and transition with intention and alignment.

By connecting to Ashtanga’s essential movement patterns and methodologies, we deepen not only our mental and physical knowledge of the practice, but we are better equipped to apply the fluid and flowing approach to our life off the mat.

Mark began studying yoga in 1997. He is a Certified Ashtanga Yoga teacher, trained and certified by Ashtanga master, the late K. Pattabhi Jois. Since 1999, Mark has made regular visits to India to practice with his guru and Pattabhi Jois' grandson, R. Sharath. Mark has also studied intensively with Eileen Hall, Richard Freeman, and Dena Kingsberg. Always looking to deepen his practice, Mark continues to learn from masters in various disciplines.

Since 2005, Mark has been teaching workshops, retreats, and classes all over the world. He threads his love of yoga, surfing, teaching, and music into his practice and teaching style. He hopes to inspire others to develop and live their deepest passions. His classes are uniquely focused on helping each student reach their full potential in life.
